How We Turned Our First Feature Request into a Same-Day Update
January 9, 2026 — Building in public has its special moments, and one of the earliest came shortly after we added “Feature Request” and “Report a Bug” buttons to our extension’s popup.
With just 51 weekly active users at the time, I happened to spot our very first feature request submitted through the Google Form.
The user wanted a simple but practical improvement: the ability to change the font size in WhatsApp Web. When resizing the browser window, text could become hard to read — especially on smaller screens. Being able to adjust the font size would solve that frustration instantly.
From Request to Release in One Day
True to our philosophy, I treated the request with high priority. I implemented the font size adjustment feature the same day the request came in.
Once the code was ready, I submitted the update to the Chrome Web Store for review so users could benefit from it as quickly as possible.
Going the Extra Mile for Users
The person who submitted the request had kindly included their email address. I sent them a personal message right away to let them know their suggestion had been received and was being worked on.
After the update was submitted for review, I followed up again with a second email:
- Confirming that the feature had been implemented
- Sharing exactly which version it would appear in
This small gesture — keeping the user in the loop — makes a big difference. When people see that their feedback is valued and acted upon quickly, they feel genuinely appreciated.
Why Fast Feedback Matters
I’ve always believed in responding to user requests as quickly as possible. If I understand what someone needs and have the time, I don’t let it sit for days or weeks. The sooner we deliver, the sooner users can enjoy the improvement.
This approach has become a core part of how we develop the extension: listen closely, build fast, and communicate transparently.
Even with very few users in the beginning, treating every request with care helped lay the foundation for the trust we continue to build today.
